Built to expand U.S. Cold Storage’s distribution network, this fast-tracked 138,500 sf cold facility meets growing demand for temperature-controlled storage. Located on expansive clay soils, extensive soil treatment—including deep excavation, moisture conditioning, compaction, and potassium injection—was performed to ensure long-term foundation stability without traditional earth retention systems. This state-of-the-art cold storage facility strengthened U.S. Cold Storage’s ability to efficiently store and distribute temperature-sensitive goods, reinforcing their national logistics network.

Soil Treatment: Due to the region’s expansive clay soils, extensive soil treatment was required to ensure long-term stability. This process involved excavating 7 to 20 feet deep, moisture conditioning the soil, and compacting it in lifts to prevent future expansion. Additionally, potassium injection was used to stabilize the soil adjacent to the existing structure, eliminating the need for a traditional earth retention system.

Self-Perform: Our self-perform team completed the insulated metal panel (IMP) installation and floor insulation, while our carpentry crew handled drywall installation.
